Budget deadlock continues as HSGMC leadership faces opposition revolt

President Jhinda alleges corruption by rivals while members cite autocratic rule

Panchkula, Feb 18: A power struggle within the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has reached a critical point following the collapse of a second scheduled general house meeting. The internal divide has prevented the passage of a Rs 104 crore budget, threatening to halt various developmental and religious initiatives planned for the upcoming year.

Opposing members have voiced their lack of confidence in President Jagdish Singh Jhinda, asserting that his leadership has become increasingly isolated. During a meeting in Panchkula, critics maintained that the repetitive failure to meet quorum is a clear indicator of a fractured mandate. “He has lost the moral right to lead,” declared Baljit Singh Daduwal, who maintained that the president’s management style has alienated the majority of the governing council.

Jhinda has countered these claims by asserting that his opponents are motivated by a desire to engage in financial irregularities. He stated that the disruption of the budget meeting was an intentional tactic by a “handful” of members to derail the administration. Despite the lack of attendance at recent sessions, Jhinda affirmed that he still commands significant support and remains committed to the committee’s integrity.

The dispute involves various legal and religious grievances, including accusations of fund misappropriation and unauthorized claims of committee titles. Senior Vice-President Gurmeet Singh stated that the current administrative affairs are in a state of disorder due to a lack of collaborative decision-making. He maintained that no financial planning can be considered valid without the proper legal quorum, a matter now pending before the judicial commission.
