Moga, July 17: In a shocking case of familial violence caught on CCTV, a man allegedly ran over his elder brother, sister-in-law, and niece in Punjab’s Moga district, following a simmering property dispute.
The incident took place in Gatti Jattan village near Dharamkot when Gurwinder Singh, his wife, and daughter were standing outside their home. According to police, the accused, Dilbag Singh, arrived in a car with his wife, dropped her off, and then allegedly accelerated the vehicle into the trio, seriously injuring all three.
The moment of the attack was captured on a nearby CCTV camera and has since gone viral on social media, drawing widespread outrage.
Neighbours who heard the victims’ screams rushed them to a private hospital in Moga, where they are undergoing treatment.
Gurwinder Singh told police that tensions between the brothers had escalated recently after their elderly parents moved in with him, having been evicted from Dilbag Singh’s house. “He had been threatening us for weeks. This was not sudden—it was building up,” Gurwinder said in his statement.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramandeep Singh said an FIR has been registered against Dilbag Singh and his wife, who are currently absconding. “A thorough investigation is underway, and we are making efforts to trace the accused,” he said.
Police have launched search operations to locate the couple, while security has been increased in the village to prevent further escalation.
