New Delhi, June 18: A high-level committee chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday approved ₹2,006.40 crore in central assistance to Himachal Pradesh for recovery and reconstruction following the devastating floods, landslides, and cloudbursts of 2023.
Of the sanctioned amount, ₹1,504.80 crore will be disbursed as the central share under the recovery and reconstruction window of the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).
The committee, comprising Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Niti Aayog Vice-Chairman Suman Bery, considered the state’s proposal before granting approval.
This follows the ₹633.73 crore additional assistance already approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs on December 12, 2023, in response to the same disaster.
