Chandigarh, Jan 28: A massive security operation was launched in Chandigarh today after schools reported receiving anonymous threats regarding potential bomb attacks. Senior officials confirmed that over 26 schools have received such threats that while initial searches at 10 schools have already yielded no evidence of any danger.

SSP Kanwardeep Kaur said that the email addresses used for the messages are under intense scrutiny by the cyber cell. The police are looking into potential links between these threats and recent similar incidents at other public institutions in the city.

“So far, of 26 schools, security teams have conducted thorough checks at 10 of these schools, and no suspicious objects have been found,” Kaur said. The SSP directly said that all necessary steps are being taken to prevent any untoward incidents through continuous monitoring.

The department has filed a formal case at the Sector 17 police station to track the origin of the digital communication. Law enforcement teams remain on high alert, with personnel stationed at various locations to manage the situation and provide reassurance to the public.

“There is no need to panic. Chandigarh police are fully alert, and security measures have been strengthened at all schools,” Kaur noted during a press briefing. She mentioned that teams are staying in constant contact with school administrations to maintain safety.

Authorities have advised parents and students to cooperate with the security personnel on the ground. The police stated that public safety is the top priority and requested that any suspicious activity be reported to the nearest station immediately.
