Chandigarh, Feb 14: The Chandigarh police on Thursday summoned hotel managers, banquet hall owners, and DJ association representatives to enforce noise pollution regulations during the current examination season. The meeting aimed to curb late-night disturbances for students preparing for board and competitive exams.
Authorities directed all establishments to strictly follow day and night sound limits, specifically noting the 10 p.m. cutoff for loud music. The SSP mentioned that special care is required during this period to ensure an environment conducive to studying.
“Any violation would invite strict legal action, and organizers, venue managers, and DJ operators would be held personally accountable,” officials directly said during the briefing.
Event organizers are now required to obtain formal permission before operating sound systems. Police also instructed stakeholders to exercise heightened caution when hosting events near residential areas or educational institutions.
The police department noted that sound operators must stay within legal decibel limits at all times. Venue managers were warned that the department will be monitoring public and private spaces to prevent any unauthorized noise.
