Chandigarh Skaters Felicitated for Asian Championship Glory

CHANDIGARH, Aug 3 – The Chandigarh Roller Skating Association (CRSA) on Saturday felicitated 24 city-based skaters who won laurels for India at the 20th Asian Roller Skating Championship held recently in South Korea.

A total of 26 skaters from Chandigarh had represented India in roller hockey and in-line hockey, contributing two gold, two silver and one bronze medal to the national tally.

The event saw the presence of Sanjay Tandon, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Administrator’s Advisory Council on Sports, as chief guest. CRSA president Arun Walia and general secretary Harpreet Singh also attended the ceremony.

“Roller skating is one of Chandigarh’s most loved sports. The medals in South Korea prove that the sport continues to grow stronger in the city, especially with new sports policy incentives like cash awards,” said Walia.

CRSA also honoured Sanan Mahajan, joint secretary of the association and manager of the Indian contingent, along with Harpreet Singh, who coached the national team during the tournament.

  • Roller Hockey (Senior Girls, Gold): Manika Mahajan, Yashika Sharma, Vinnati, Himanshi Kaushal, Anshika Sharma
  • Roller Hockey (Senior Boys, Silver): Gurshaan Singh Aujla, Angadbir Singh, Jujhar Singh, Naman Gussain
  • Roller Hockey (U-19 Boys, Gold): Adhiraj Shaunak, Damanpreet Singh, Daksh, Mayank, Dhruv Rathee, Ritesh Kamboj, Saarthak, Ansh Sharma
  • Inline Hockey (Junior Girls, Silver): Angel Kaushik, Sonam Singh, Jasmine Saini
  • Inline Hockey (Junior Boys, Bronze): Jobanjeet Singh, Abhyuday Thakur, Paraspreet Singh, Sanidhya Tiwari

Other participants included Nanki (Senior Women’s Inline Hockey) and Karanveer Singh Kang (Senior Men’s Inline Hockey).

The CRSA lauded the collective effort of athletes, coaches, and management, hailing their performance as a landmark moment for Chandigarh sports.
