Chandigarh Staff Barred From Leaving Headquarters

by TheReportingTimes

CHANDIGARH, May 9 – The Chandigarh Administration has ordered that all personnel across government Departments, Boards, and Corporations must remain at their assigned stations and are not permitted to leave their headquarters until further notice, according to an official directive issued Thursday.

“All employees are required to stay within their respective postings in Chandigarh. No one is allowed to leave their designated headquarters without explicit instructions,” the order reads.

As part of the same directive, any leave previously granted stands revoked with immediate effect. Officials will now have to seek fresh approval directly from the concerned secretary, who may grant leave only under “exceptional circumstances,” the communication further stated.

“This is a clear instruction to ensure continuity of services and administrative readiness,” a senior official from the Secretariat told this correspondent, requesting anonymity.

“No employee should consider their earlier sanctioned leave as valid anymore. Only the department secretary has the authority to reconsider requests, and that too in rare, justified cases.”

The administration has not specified the duration of this restriction or the reasons behind the tightened protocol, though insiders suggest it is aimed at maintaining operational stability across all key departments.
