Chandigarh, 5 November: A transport company’s wall caved in on Tuesday afternoon in Gas Colony, Daria, killing a 75-year-old woman and injuring three children. The deceased, Gangiya Devi, and the children were sitting beside the wall when a reversing truck reportedly hit it, burying them under debris.
Local residents and family members accused the company of negligence, claiming the warehouse wall was in a poor condition. Gangiya Devi’s grandson, Praveen, said residents had repeatedly requested repairs, but no action was taken.
The injured children were taken to GMCH-32. One child with serious injuries was shifted to PGIMER, while the others were admitted to Government Multi-Speciality Hospital, Sector-16. Police have started inquest proceedings, and Gangiya Devi’s body is at GMCH mortuary for autopsy.
