Chandigarh, Feb 15: The auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri brought a surge of spiritual energy to the streets of Punjab and Haryana on Sunday, with temples beautifully decorated to welcome thousands of worshippers. Devotees of all ages gathered to offer milk and bael leaves to Lord Shiva, seeking blessings for well-being and prosperity.

In a significant spiritual outing, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini joined the local congregation at the Nalhar Mahadev Temple. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining social unity and brotherhood during his address to the devotees. He noted that the festival serves as a reminder of the power of faith in driving the state toward a better future.

“He also urged people to uphold unity, brotherhood and social harmony on this sacred occasion,” affirmed a spokesperson for the Chief Minister’s office. The visit underscored the state’s commitment to honoring its diverse cultural traditions while praying for collective progress.

Parallel celebrations in Punjab saw Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal visiting the Rankeshwar Mahadev Temple in Sangrur. The leaders participated in the rituals alongside the general public, reinforcing the cultural significance of the day. “The divine energy of Mahadev brings peace to the mind and new strength,” stated Kejriwal following the ceremony. As the day progressed, various temple committees organized community feasts and night-long vigils to mark the “Great Night of Shiva” across the tri-city and neighboring districts.
