Indora (Kangra), Dec 20: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday said the state’s campaign against drug abuse, “Chitta-Free Himachal”, had grown into a mass movement, with authorities seizing illegal properties worth ₹50 crore linked to drug trafficking.

“Properties acquired through the drug trade worth ₹50 crore have already been seized, and the remaining illicit assets will be destroyed within the next six months,” Sukhu said while addressing the closing ceremony of the Indora Utsav.

Appealing to the public and panchayats to actively support the campaign, the chief minister urged citizens to share information through the emergency helpline 112. “The identity of informers will be kept fully confidential, and rewards ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹10 lakh will be given,” he said.

Sukhu said the state government was taking firm steps to dismantle drug networks and ensure a safer environment for the youth. He added that community participation was key to sustaining the momentum against narcotics.

MLA Malender Rajan said the Indora Utsav aimed to educate young people about the harmful effects of drugs and praised the government’s sustained crackdown on the drug mafia. “The results on the ground show that the strategy is working,” he said.

The festival concluded with cultural performances by noted singer Lakhwinder Badali, the HP Police Band, and local cultural troupes.
