AMRITSAR, India, Dec 15— Acting on intelligence inputs, Counter Intelligence Amritsar dismantled a drug supply network and arrested four men allegedly involved in distributing heroin on the directions of handlers based abroad, Punjab Police said Sunday.

Police seized 4 kilograms of heroin, ₹3.90 lakh in suspected drug money and a country-made .32-bore pistol with ammunition during the operation, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said.

“Swift action by CI Amritsar led to the arrest of all operatives involved in the delivery chain,” Yadav said.

The accused — Yuvraj Singh, Varinder Singh, Jagroop Singh and Jugraj Singh — were all operating in Amritsar and were using two-wheelers to transport drug consignments, police said.

Investigators said Yuvraj and Varinder had picked up a heroin consignment from the Ajnala area on the instructions of Lakhwinder Singh alias Baba Lakha, who is believed to be operating from abroad. The consignment was meant to be delivered to Jagroop Singh near Morcha Sahib gurdwara.

Police teams laid a trap and arrested the three men near the delivery point, recovering the heroin and the firearm, officials said.

During interrogation, Jagroop disclosed that he was working under the directions of Daya Singh alias Preet Sekhon, currently lodged in Central Jail, Muktsar Sahib, police said.

Based on further leads, CI teams arrested Jugraj Singh from Amritsar city and recovered ₹3.90 lakh in cash believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking, the DGP said.

A black Hero Splendor motorcycle and a white Honda Activa scooter used in the operation were seized, police added.

An FIR has been registered at the SSOC police station in Amritsar under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act and the Arms Act. Police said efforts are on to identify and arrest other members linked to the network.
