CHANDIGARH, July 2 — The Chandigarh Industrial Tourism and Development Corporation (CITCO) board has approved a ₹98 lakh proposal for the phased renovation of rooms at Hotel Parkview, officials confirmed on Wednesday. The move is aimed at enhancing guest experience, with revised tariffs expected after the upgrades are completed.
A senior CITCO official said the renovation will be carried out in stages to minimise disruptions. “Tariffs will be revised in accordance with the upgraded amenities once the renovation concludes,” the official said.
In another significant step toward modernisation, the board also cleared the implementation of an online room reservation system for CITCO’s three flagship hotels — Hotel Mountview in Sector 10, Hotel Shivalikview in Sector 17, and Hotel Parkview in Sector 24. The new system will be managed by an external agency and will include a web booking engine, channel manager, and revenue management tools. The project is estimated to cost ₹17 lakh for a three-year term, with the possibility of a two-year extension based on performance.
CITCO also received approval to supply bulk diesel to the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU), expanding its role as a vendor. CITCO will now be listed alongside Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) as an official supplier. The move is expected to improve procurement flexibility for CTU’s public transport fleet.
Additionally, the board discussed liberalising business rules for shopkeepers at Sukhna Lake, one of the city’s most frequented tourist spots. Under future lease agreements, shop owners will no longer need prior approval from CITCO to introduce new products. The change is intended to align inventory with real-time market demand and boost revenue for small businesses operating in the area.
The latest decisions reflect CITCO’s broader focus on improving hospitality infrastructure, streamlining operations, and enhancing tourism-driven commerce in Chandigarh.
