Chandigarh, March 16: Marking four years in office, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann affirmed on Monday that his government has delivered on its commitment to restore the state’s “pristine glory.” The Chief Minister stated that the administration has achieved what previous governments could not, specifically pointing to the expansion of canal irrigation to 78 percent of fields and the transformation of government schools into top-ranked institutions.

The Chief Minister maintained that the “Sikhya Kranti” (Education Revolution) has enabled hundreds of government school students to clear prestigious exams like JEE and NEET. He asserted that by providing world-class training to teachers and digital classrooms to students, the state is preparing the youth to be job creators. He also declared that the “Rozgar Kranti” has ensured that employment is provided without the need for recommendations or bribes.

Regarding social welfare, the Chief Minister stated that the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojna is providing direct financial assistance to women, with monthly transfers of up to ₹1,500 for eligible beneficiaries. He affirmed that over 14.5 crore free bus journeys are taken by women annually, further promoting empowerment and mobility.

“Our competition is not with political parties but with corruption, unemployment, and poverty,” the Chief Minister declared. He asserted that the government has successfully turned challenges like stubble burning into sources of livelihood and has revitalized the state’s fiscal health by reducing the debt-to-GSDP ratio.

The Chief Minister also addressed central-state relations, stating that the Union Government’s decision to stall funds for various schemes is unfair to the federal structure. He affirmed that despite these hurdles, major projects like the upcoming Tata Steel facility and new medical colleges will continue as planned. He concluded by asserting that Punjab will not be swayed by “politics of religion” and will remain focused on its path of development and prosperity.
