Chandigarh, Feb 22: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has stated that the Punjab Government’s forthcoming March Budget will be a testament to the administration’s pro-people stance. During an interaction on Saturday, the Chief Minister affirmed that the government remains dedicated to ensuring that governance remains rooted in the needs of every citizen, from farmers to students.
The Chief Minister asserted that the state’s education system has seen a significant shift, with Punjab recently ranking first in the National Achievement Survey. He noted that teachers and principals are being sent for international training to adopt modern pedagogical practices. Additionally, he declared that the state has initiated a massive road construction drive covering over 44,920 kilometers, with a mandatory five-year maintenance clause to ensure high-quality standards.
In a show of respect for security forces, CM Mann stated that the Punjab Government provides an honorarium of ₹1 crore to the families of martyrs from the Armed Forces and Paramilitary, and ₹2 crore for police personnel who lose their lives in the line of duty. He affirmed that these measures, alongside the provision of daytime electricity for the agricultural sector, illustrate a government that is “of the people and for the people.”
While criticizing the Union Government for its fiscal policies and the withholding of state funds, the Chief Minister maintained that Punjab’s trajectory remains positive. He noted that the state has successfully balanced welfare schemes, such as free healthcare and power, with significant infrastructure investments. CM Mann declared that the upcoming Budget would further these initiatives, ensuring that the benefits of governance reach the last person in the queue.
