Chandigarh, March 12: At a function held in Mohali on Thursday, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann distributed 818 appointment letters, marking a total of 65,264 government jobs delivered since 2022. The Chief Minister asserted that the era of “musical chairs” played by traditional parties is over, replaced by a governance model that prioritizes the talent of Punjab’s youth over political patronage.

Among the new recruits, several individuals shared emotional accounts of their journey to government service. Dharminder Singh, a former laborer at a brick kiln, declared that he secured a government position solely through a transparent examination process. Similarly, Dr. Navjot Singh Mann from Sri Muktsar Sahib noted that dental doctors have received government appointments for the first time in 36 years, with the last recruitment having occurred in 1990.

“Now Punjab’s youth is getting jobs in their own homes; they no longer need to go abroad,” the Chief Minister stated. He maintained that the state’s exchequer is now being utilized effectively for public welfare, citing the purchase of a private thermal plant and the provision of free electricity to 90 per cent of households as evidence of fiscal health.

The Chief Minister also referenced the Mukh Mantri Mavaan Dhian Satkar scheme, which provides financial aid to women, asserting that such support is vital for the dignity of common households. He maintained that those who spent years plundering the state are now uncomfortable with these people-centric initiatives. He affirmed that the newly appointed youth are now part of the “government family” and will be instrumental in making Punjab a frontrunner in every field.
