Councilor Sarabjit Singh Samana Seeks Probe Into Phase-5 Market Issues

Councilor Sarabjit Samana criticizes Mohali Corporation for neglecting shopkeepers' welfare

Mohali, March 14: Councilor Sarabjit Singh Samana has affirmed his commitment to resolving a series of civic issues plaguing the Phase-5 market after meeting with local business owners. The visit resulted in a demand for a formal vigilance inquiry into the partial construction of market roads and the conduct of service contractors.

The Market Association spoke about several pressing concerns, including the unregulated presence of street vendors and a lack of police patrolling. Shopkeepers maintained that the absence of PCR movement and the failure to paint parking lines have created significant operational hurdles and security worries for the commercial hub.

A major point of contention involved the contractor responsible for market restrooms. Samana declared that the practice of assigning female staff to male toilets was highly inappropriate. He asserted that the contractor involved should be blacklisted immediately to uphold proper standards of management.

“It is evident that those holding power in the Mohali Corporation do not regularly visit the field to understand the hardships of the public,” Samana declared during the interaction.

Accompanied by several party officials, including Block President R.P. Sharma and District Coordinator Anu Babbar, Samana maintained that the broken road infrastructure in the market is a priority. He affirmed that he would raise the matter of the incomplete roadwork at the appropriate administrative levels to ensure accountability and completion of the project.
