LUCKNOW, June 1 — Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is set to get engaged to Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj on June 8, her father and former MP Toofani Saroj confirmed on Sunday. The engagement ceremony will be an intimate gathering of close friends and family in Lucknow.
The wedding is scheduled for November 18 and will be held at the Hotel Taj in Varanasi. Invitations are likely to be sent to high-profile personalities from cricket, Bollywood, politics, and business.
Rinku, 27, has played 2 ODIs and 33 T20Is for India and is a key player for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. Priya, 26, is a first-time Member of Parliament from Machhlishahr (Jaunpur).
Toofani Saroj said the marriage was arranged with the consent of both families after a meeting in Aligarh.
“Rinku and Priya have known each other for a while. They met through Priya’s friend’s father, who is also a cricketer,” Saroj told reporters. “With blessings from both families, they decided to tie the knot.”
