NEW DELHI, SEPT 11: With New Delhi hosting the BRICS Summit on September 12 and 13, global leaders and senior delegations began reaching the national capital from late Thursday evening into early Friday. Among the key arrivals was Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is on a three-day visit aimed at strengthening ties and attending the multilateral summit.
Meeting alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Putin and his delegation intend to explore broader venues for cooperation in energy, investment, and bilateral trade. Prime Minister Modi shared a welcoming message expressing confidence in achieving positive outcomes through these deliberations.
The gathering features substantial representation from across the global south. Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira arrived to represent President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who stayed back in Brazil to focus on his national election campaign.
The summit brings together an array of foreign dignitaries, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, and Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung.
