Mumbai, April 7: ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has emerged as the second-highest grossing film in the country’s history after surpassing the lifetime earnings of ‘Baahubali 2’. The film, which stars Ranveer Singh alongside R Madhavan and Sanjay Dutt, reached a net total of ₹1,033.37 crore on its 20th day, breaking the long-standing record held by the 2017 fantasy epic.
Director Aditya Dhar’s latest project serves as a follow-up to the 2025 hit, exploring the origin story of a deep-cover operative. The production has been lauded for its technical scale and storytelling. “Aditya Dhar, your talent and conviction is reflected in what you’ve created,” Virat Kohli stated, asserting that the film successfully brings a wide range of emotions to the surface.
The box office trajectory of ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has been record-breaking since its opening week. It currently holds an India gross of over ₹1,237 crore. To reach the number one position, the film needs to maintain its pace to overtake ‘Pushpa 2: The Rise’. Analysts declared that the film has already outperformed the lifetime totals of high-budget releases like ‘RRR’ and ‘KGF: Chapter 2’.
As the film enters its fourth week, the focus remains on whether it can sustain the necessary ticket sales to claim the all-time domestic record. Supporting actors Arjun Rampal and Rakesh Bedi have also received praise for their roles in the thriller. While the midweek numbers showed a slight decline, the film’s overall performance continues to be described by industry insiders as a historic achievement for Hindi cinema.
