Discrimination Alleged in District LPG Distribution

Domestic and commercial gas supplies hit by delays as rural consumers face long queues

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh/Mohali, March 25: A widening gap in the delivery of liquefied petroleum gas has prompted allegations of discrimination from rural consumers who maintain that urban areas are receiving preferential treatment. Despite official reviews of the supply chain, ground-level reports indicate that many households in the countryside are struggling with a week-long backlog for domestic cylinders.

The crisis has reached a point where villagers must sacrifice their daily wages to secure fuel, contrasting sharply with the consistent doorstep service provided to urban centers. This imbalance has created an atmosphere of concern across the district, particularly as the supply of commercial gas also shows signs of strain. Industrial facilities and medical centers have reported difficulties in obtaining the necessary volume of gas to maintain standard operations.

Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman affirmed that the administration is aware of these localized shortages and has moved to streamline the process. He stated that the government is monitoring the performance of the gas agencies to ensure the requirements of all residents are met. The Deputy Commissioner declared that instructions have already been issued to the concerned departments to take corrective action and stabilize the flow of supplies.

To manage the fallout, authorities have established a formal channel for consumer complaints. Dhiman affirmed that anyone facing a disruption should contact the control room directly so that the administration can intervene.
