Dog Seen Carrying Newborn’s Corpse in MP

by TheReportingTimes

Indore, June 8 — In a deeply disturbing incident, a stray dog was seen carrying the body of a newborn in its jaws on the premises of a government hospital in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, early Saturday morning. A security guard at the civil hospital managed to scare away the animal and recover the partially mutilated body, prompting immediate police and administrative action.

CCTV footage reviewed by hospital authorities shows the incident occurred between 1:30 a.m. and 2 a.m. near the hospital toilet. “A young girl is seen entering the toilet during that period. We later confirmed she had been admitted around 9 p.m. on Friday for abdominal pain,” said Dr. H.R. Verma, in-charge of Mhow Civil Hospital, about 25 km from Indore city.

According to Dr. Verma, the 17-year-old girl left the hospital soon after the incident, accompanied by an unidentified man. It is suspected she delivered the baby, likely stillborn, inside the toilet. “The preliminary postmortem suggests it was a premature birth. The body has been sent to the mortuary, and we are awaiting the full report,” Verma added.

Security sources revealed that the hospital has three main entrances, which remain open at night. Stray dogs often gain entry through a gate near the storeroom, where this incident likely unfolded. Hospital insiders confirmed the newborn’s body had been partially eaten before it was retrieved.

“I have now issued instructions that all gates must remain closed during night hours,” Dr. Verma stated, acknowledging a lapse in basic security protocols.

Police have launched an investigation to trace the girl and determine the circumstances surrounding the birth and abandonment of the infant. All relevant CCTV footage has been handed over to assist in the probe.

“The situation is tragic and shocking. We are examining all possibilities, including medical negligence, abandonment, and legal violations,” a senior police official said.

The incident has raised serious questions about hospital security and patient monitoring, especially concerning vulnerable minors admitted under emergency circumstances.
