Hoshiarpur, Dec 20: An attempt to settle a domestic dispute ended in bloodshed in Hoshiarpur’s Mohalla Kamalpur, where a young man was allegedly killed after being attacked with sharp weapons, police said on Saturday.
The victim, identified as Ajay Sandhu, had gone along with a woman and her husband to help resolve a family disagreement. However, tensions flared soon after their arrival, leading to a violent clash. Police said Karan Bali, his son Nitin Bali, his wife Meena Bali, and several other youths allegedly launched an assault on the visitors.
Sandhu suffered severe head injuries during the attack and fell unconscious at the spot. He was taken to the Civil Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
DSP Devdutt Sharma said the dispute escalated unexpectedly. “The deceased and the couple had come with the intention of settling the issue peacefully, but the argument turned violent. Ajay Sandhu was struck with sharp-edged weapons, resulting in fatal injuries,” he said.
A case has been registered, and police teams have been deployed to trace and arrest the accused. The incident is the third murder reported in Hoshiarpur district within three days.
