LALRU, May 3: — Police rescued eight women from a suspected human trafficking and prostitution racket operating out of a hotel on the Ambala-Chandigarh highway, officials said Friday.
The raid was carried out at Hotel Drive Inn 22 in Lalru following human intelligence inputs, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Bikramjit Singh. “We rescued eight women during the operation. Further investigation is underway,” he added.
Three key members of the alleged trafficking ring were arrested at the scene. They were identified as Naresh Kumar, Aman Singh, and Amit Sheetal, all residents of Kaithal, Haryana.
An FIR has been registered at Lalru police station under Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. The hotel’s owner, along with three other individuals—Ravi, Lovely, and Prem—has also been named in the case.
The charges include keeping or allowing premises to be used as a brothel, living on the earnings of prostitution, and procuring or inducing individuals for prostitution.
Authorities said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle trafficking networks operating in the region.
