Abohar, April 7: A wave of successful neonatal treatments across Punjab has showcased the efficacy of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, with more than 6,000 infants treated in just 90 days. The scheme, which guarantees 10 lakh in cashless coverage for mothers and children, is specifically designed to handle critical care from the first hours of life, significantly improving health outcomes for the state’s youngest residents.

Among those benefited is the family of Mankirat Singh from Patiala. Born with jaundice and respiratory complications, the infant’s treatment was fully funded by the state. His father, Balwinder Singh, asserted that the fear of medical debt was replaced by relief when the hospital accepted the Sehat Card. Similar success stories have been reported in Faridkot and Bathinda, where complex cases of jaundice and infection were managed without any out-of-pocket expenses for the parents.

“While we were worried about the newborn’s health, what worried us more was how we would cover the bills,” Balwinder Singh stated. “Thanks to CM Bhagwant Mann’s scheme, the treatment cost was fully covered.”

The administration declared that the availability of this cashless facility is encouraging more families to bring newborns to hospitals within the critical first 72 hours of life. This shift in behavior is seen as a major step toward reducing infant mortality and long-term health complications. The Punjab Government asserted that it remains committed to expanding the reach of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna through on-ground enrollment camps, ensuring that no family has to choose between their savings and their child’s health.
