Faridkot, Feb 22: Faridkot Police have arrested six high-profile smugglers linked to a Pakistan-based heroin supply chain. The operation resulted in the seizure of nearly five kilograms of high-grade heroin along with an illegal .30 bore pistol and three live cartridges.
The operation began when a specialized team led by DSP Tarlochan Singh discovered a kit bag containing over a kilogram of heroin and cash inside a vehicle parked in Faridkot. This initial arrest of four individuals led investigators to the ringleader, Amardeep Singh, a resident of Ferozepur. Following a swift pursuit, Amardeep and an associate were intercepted, revealing a much larger cache of narcotics hidden in five separate packets.
SSP Dr. Pragya Jain noted that the cartel utilized advanced logistics, including the use of luxury SUVs to move drugs smuggled in via drones. She affirmed that the suspects were part of a wider network involving both domestic and international handlers. “Our teams are digging deep into the backward and forward linkages to identify every associate in this supply chain,” the SSP asserted.
The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act at the Faridkot City Police Station. Officials declared that the involvement of a dismissed police employee and a member of the armed forces suggests a deliberate attempt by the cartel to exploit institutional profiles for smuggling operations. The vehicles used in the crime have been impounded, and the technical cell is currently analyzing mobile data to trace further connections within the jail-based coordination centers.
