Indore, March 27: Police have arrested a father and son in Indore after they allegedly plowed their car into a group of neighbors, resulting in the death of a woman working in the IT sector. The suspects, identified as Kuldeep Chaudhary and his son Mohit, are accused of using their vehicle as a weapon during a heated argument over the commercial rental of their penthouse. Shampa Pathak Pandey, a resident and mother of two, died during treatment at a local hospital on Thursday.

The confrontation broke out on Wednesday night when residents of the building challenged the Chaudharys for allegedly operating a short-term rental business from their top-floor unit. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotiya affirmed that the accused drove into the protesters at high speed. He stated that the vehicle hit a woman first before crushing Pandey, causing fatal head injuries.

Pandey, an employee of a leading Bengaluru-headquartered technology firm, was treated at Bombay Hospital for a brain haemorrhage before passing away. A second victim remains hospitalized with serious injuries. Investigators noted that CCTV footage from the building provides a clear record of the high-speed impact and the preceding argument.

Both suspects were apprehended on Thursday and now face murder charges. Dandotiya asserted that the police are currently conducting a thorough probe into the circumstances that led to the fatal escalation. The incident has sparked concerns among local residents regarding the regulation of commercial activities in residential complexes and the safety of those protesting such practices.
