Flood Warnings Issued in Several States

by TheReportingTimes

New Delhi, Aug 10: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall across parts of Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Karnataka, warning of potential flooding in low-lying areas. The monsoon system has intensified over central India, causing rivers to swell and prompting authorities to keep a close watch on vulnerable zones.

Local administrations have activated disaster response teams and advised residents in flood-prone areas to stay alert. “We urge citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and remain cautious as water levels are rising rapidly in some districts,” said an IMD official. Several schools in the affected regions have been closed as a precaution.

Meteorologists said the current monsoon spell is likely to continue for the next three days, bringing relief to drought-hit regions but also posing challenges due to heavy water accumulation.
