MOHALI, Dec. 13 — Two alumnae of Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (AFPI) for Girls, SAS Nagar, have achieved a milestone by being inducted as Flying Officers in the Indian Air Force.
Charanpreet Kaur and Mehak Dahiya passed out from the Air Force Academy, Dundigal (Hyderabad), during a parade reviewed by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan.
Charanpreet Kaur, daughter of Kurali resident Harminder Singh Banwait, a driver, has joined the administrative branch, while Mehak Dahiya, whose father Anil Kumar Dahiya is a government teacher from Mohali, has been posted in the accounts branch.
Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora extended his congratulations to the officers. Mai Bhago AFPI, which set up an NDA Preparatory Wing for girls in July 2023, is currently training its third batch. A new block named after Field Marshal SHFJ Manekshaw was inaugurated at the institute in November 2025.
Major General Jasbir Singh Sandhu, AVSM (Retd), Director of Mai Bhago AFPI, said he was delighted to see the institute’s former students commissioned as officers in the Indian Air Force.
