Four Arrested for ₹1.75 Cr Gold Heist

by TheReportingTimes

KARNAL, Jan 10 – A swift investigation by the Karnal district police has led to the recovery of over 1.2 kg of gold and the arrest of four suspects linked to a ₹1.75 crore robbery.

The arrests were made across Karnal and Ambala on Thursday. The suspects—identified as Prince, Dinesh, Parveen Kumar, and Prateek—reportedly ambushed two gold workers on January 3, fleeing with a massive haul of bullion and liquid cash.

“The Superintendent of Police assigned the case to a specialized team after an FIR was registered at the City Police Station,” stated DSP Rajiv Kumar. “We have seized 1.240 kg of the stolen gold and the vehicle used by the accused to flee the scene.”

Police revealed that the plot was hatched from within the local jewelry market. Dinesh and Prince, both residents of Karnal, were employed at a shop in Sarafa Bazar. They allegedly monitored the movement of the victims, who worked as gold smelters, before coordinating the attack with their Ambala-based accomplices.

The victims were returning home near the Sector-16 community centre when the assault took place.

“We are currently interrogating three of the suspects in custody to see if they are linked to other unsolved cases in the region,” the DSP said.
