Amritsar, Oct 23: Punjab Police’s SSOC on Wednesday foiled a cross-border weapons smuggling attempt with the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of four .30 bore Star-mark pistols and ammunition, officials said.
The arrested were identified as Jugraj Singh alias Chiri (Bhagwanpura), Kulbir Singh alias Nannu alias Kalu (Daliri), Arshdeep Singh (Daliri), and Nachattar Singh (Dialpur), all from Tarn Taran district.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said preliminary findings indicate the suspects were working under a Pakistan-based smuggler, using drones to transport weapons into Punjab. “Investigation is ongoing to uncover the entire network,” he added.
AIG Sukhminder Singh Mann of SSOC, Amritsar, shared that police acted after receiving credible information about the retrieval of a weapon consignment. “Teams intercepted the suspects and recovered arms and ammunition,” he said.
Mann also noted that Jugraj Singh had a prior drug-related arrest in June 2025 and spent around two months in jail. The arrested will be produced in court following due procedure.
This case follows a recent SSOC operation that busted a similar smuggling module, leading to the arrest of five people and seizure of four Glock pistols along with two kilograms of heroin. FIR No. 62 has been registered at SSOC Police Station under Section 25 of the Arms Act and Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
