CHANDIGARH, October 13 — Punjab is set to see a significant industrial boost with Ganga Acrowools Limited announcing plans to establish a textile unit in the state, investing ₹637 crore. The project is part of the state government’s flagship ‘Invest Punjab’ initiative, aimed at reviving the state’s industrial landscape and reinforcing Punjab’s position as a leading manufacturing hub in India.
Officials said the new facility will create thousands of jobs, particularly benefiting the state’s youth, and revitalize Punjab’s traditional strength in the textile sector. “This project will not only enhance the local economy but also strengthen Punjab’s presence in textile manufacturing nationally,” an industry department official said.
The state government has made concerted efforts to attract investors, offering single-window clearance, improved land availability, and reliable infrastructure including electricity and water. Ganga Acrowools cited these investor-friendly conditions, along with access to skilled labour and government support, as key reasons for selecting Punjab.
The ₹637 crore investment is expected to significantly increase the textile sector’s contribution to the state economy, boost exports, and directly add to Punjab’s GDP. The project will also generate growth in related industries such as logistics, supply chain, and packaging, creating a wider economic impact across the region.
Ganga Acrowools, a well-established name in the Indian textile industry, has received approvals through coordinated efforts by the state’s industrial departments and the Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion. “Our approach ensures that investors face minimal red tape, setting Punjab apart from other states,” an official noted.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann welcomed the announcement, describing it as a crucial step in his government’s mission to restore Punjab as an industrial powerhouse. “Investments like this demonstrate that Punjab is open for business, and we are committed to attracting even larger projects in the future,” he said.
The project is also expected to benefit small and medium enterprises, generating opportunities for local traders and entrepreneurs. Government officials called the investment a “new beginning” for the state’s industrial sector, promising employment opportunities and economic growth for thousands of families.
Ganga Acrowools’ ₹637 crore textile project is being seen as a key milestone in Punjab’s ongoing industrial revival, reinforcing the state’s role as a major centre for manufacturing and economic development.
