Ludhiana, June 18, 2025: Days after a gang war rocked Ludhiana, gangster Gagandeep Singh — alias Gary Lalton, also known as Ravan — was injured in a police encounter on Wednesday during a weapon recovery operation.
The encounter unfolded when a joint team of the CIA staff and City Police Station-2 took Gary to a location to recover firearms used in the June 15 shootout near Greenland Hotel in Khanna. According to officials, Gary suddenly pulled out a pistol from a hiding spot and opened fire at the police.
In retaliation, SHO Tarvinder Bedi of City Police Station-2 fired back, injuring Gary in the leg. SHO Bedi also sustained injuries in the exchange. “The accused tried to escape by attacking the police. Our officer showed restraint and responded only after being fired upon,” said a senior police official.
Gary was immediately arrested and taken to the civil hospital for treatment.
The June 15 gang clash, which left the city tense, involved rival factions led by Gary Lalton and Sukhvir Bhuchi. Police sources claim the motive behind the shootout was a personal dispute over friendship with a girl.
Following the incident, City Police Station-2 registered a case and arrested four individuals, including Gary. Authorities are now interrogating him to trace remaining weapons and identify other associates involved in the gang conflict.
“The investigation is ongoing, and we’re committed to breaking this gang network,” said a police spokesperson.
