KHARAR, 10 Nov — In a brief exchange of fire on Monday morning, police arrested an alleged member of the Davinder Bambiha gang who was injured in an encounter in Ajnala village of Kharar.
The accused, Ranbir Rana, suffered a gunshot wound to his leg and was taken to the Kharar sub-divisional hospital for treatment. Police said he is suspected of involvement in the November 5 firing outside hotelier Tara Singh Saini’s residence in Chandigarh’s Sector 38.
That night, four bullets were fired at Saini’s house, damaging his tenant’s vehicle and the boundary wall. CCTV footage captured two men on a motorcycle firing shots before fleeing the scene around 12:30 a.m.
Saini, who owns the Regenta Place Hotel in Mohali’s TDI City, said he had earlier received a phone call from an unidentified person claiming to be Lucky Patial, a known associate of the Bambiha gang.
Police officials said investigations are ongoing to confirm Rana’s role in the Chandigarh attack and to trace other members of the gang. “We are verifying his connections and recovering evidence from the scene,” an officer said.
