Global Training Transforms Punjab Classrooms

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, November 19, 2025: Punjab is seeing a wave of change in its schools as 649 teachers, headmasters, and principals complete international training programs in Finland, Singapore, and IIM Ahmedabad.

The third batch of 72 teachers this month joined the University of Turku in Finland, adding to the 144 who completed previous batches in October 2024 and March 2025. These teachers are introducing modern, student-focused teaching practices across classrooms in the state.

A separate program at IIM Ahmedabad trained 199 headmasters in leadership, school management, and innovative education practices. The fourth batch finished in November, and a fifth batch in December will bring the total trained headmasters to 249.

Principals and education officers underwent leadership training in Singapore, covering global models of school management and innovation. Trained principals are now implementing reforms in state schools, including administrative improvements and student-centered initiatives.

Selection for international training was based on merit, experience, and performance. Trained educators now serve as ‘Master Trainers,’ teaching peers modern, effective classroom and leadership techniques.

Officials noted the program has begun reshaping school culture, increasing teacher autonomy, collaborative learning, and socio-emotional development among students. The government said it intends to expand such programs further to provide Punjabi students with a modern, holistic education.
