Chandigarh, August 27: The Punjab government has released ₹52.20 crore to 1.37 lakh Satkar Sakhis on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, recognizing their efforts in facilitating mass registration for the Mukh Mantri Mawan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojna. The payout marks the first installment of ₹100 per registration out of a total ₹300 incentive fee designated for each completed application.
Recent state data indicates that 76.11 lakh women have registered for the flagship initiative so far, with ₹2,381 crore successfully routed into the bank accounts of 68.06 lakh verified beneficiaries. Eligible women receive direct bank transfers of ₹1,000, while scheduled caste beneficiaries receive ₹1,500 monthly.
Speaking to gathered field workers during a formal ceremony in Goindwal Sahib, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared that the assistance model stands as an unconditional safety net for adult women across the state.
“Our government has launched the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna in recognition of the dignity and respect of women. Women beneficiaries above the age of 18 years are receiving notifications on their mobile phones regarding financial assistance,” stated Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, encouraging remaining eligible residents to complete their paperwork.
He maintained that strengthening financial autonomy for women elevates overall household stability and creates long-term social equity across rural and urban sectors.
AAP Punjab Women Wing President and MLA Dr. Amandeep Kaur declared that field workers have become essential pillars in helping local families access benefits, asserting that expanding opportunities for women remains central to the state’s welfare strategy. Cabinet Ministers Aman Arora and Harbhajan Singh ETO affirmed that broad public support for these direct benefit transfers continues to strengthen governance across Punjab.
