Chandigarh, July 27 — The Government College of Education, Sector 20-D, successfully conducted a three-day workshop on ‘Audio Visual Teaching Aids’ from July 23 to 25, aiming to strengthen future educators’ ability to integrate technology into classroom instruction.
Organised by the Skill–In–Teaching Committee under the leadership of Principal Dr. Sapna Nanda and coordination of Dr. Meena, the workshop focused on enhancing the practical skills of B.Ed. Semester III students in using audio-visual tools to make teaching more interactive and learner-centric.
“Audio-visual aids are vital to meeting the diverse learning needs of students today. Our goal is to prepare educators who can apply these tools creatively and effectively across subjects,” said Dr. Nanda during the inaugural session.
The workshop drew participation from 103 pupil teachers and featured hands-on activities, demonstrations, and expert-led discussions aimed at encouraging innovative pedagogical practices. Sessions explored the integration of multimedia across subjects, highlighting the role of visual and auditory stimuli in improving engagement and comprehension.
Among the key speakers was Dr. Navneet Kad, Assistant State Project Director (Quality Education), who underscored the importance of digital tools in achieving national education benchmarks. National award-winning mathematics teacher Kirandeep Singh conducted an interactive session showcasing low-cost teaching aids for math instruction.
Jeesu Jaskanwar Singh, Head of Education at the Centre for Distance and Online Education, Panjab University, spoke on the growing need for media literacy and tech integration in teacher training. Former principal of Shri Guru Gobind Singh College, Prof. M.S. Marwaha, and Raj Kumar also shared their academic insights and classroom strategies.
Participants designed and demonstrated their own teaching aids during group activities, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in simulated teaching environments.
The workshop concluded on an enthusiastic note, reinforcing the college’s commitment to modernizing teacher education in line with the evolving demands of 21st-century classrooms.
