Chandigarh/Anandpur Sahib, November 24, 2025 — Extensive free medical services have been launched across Anandpur Sahib as part of the Punjab government’s preparations for the observance of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s 350th martyrdom anniversary, with ministers describing the week-long effort as unprecedented public outreach.

Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, who reviewed facilities at several sites on Sunday, said the government was focused on ensuring safe and comfortable access to healthcare for devotees. “We want every person visiting this sacred city to receive timely medical assistance,” he said while acknowledging the scale of attendance.

Officials said the large government-run eye screening initiative, Nigha Langar, has checked the vision of 5,000 individuals. Nearly 2,000 pairs of spectacles have been distributed without charge, while 39 cataract surgeries have been undertaken for patients identified at the camp. The Health Department noted that the facilities were created to support vulnerable and low-income visitors.
Along with the screening drive, 39 Aam Aadmi Clinics have been opened across Anandpur Sahib and surrounding areas. Authorities said the clinics treated 1,822 patients in a single day and carried out 174 diagnostic tests, adding that the centres are fully operational day and night.
To mitigate medical emergencies, additional services have been readied in Ropar, Kiratpur Sahib and Anandpur Sahib, including trauma and intensive care units. According to government data, 24 basic life support ambulances and seven advanced emergency ambulances have been deployed along major routes and gathering points.
Blood donation stations have also been created at multiple venues. Dr. Singh said the government expected significant public participation, adding that the effort demonstrates the administration’s priorities. “Public health is central to our work,” he commented, urging people to make use of the facilities.
A helpline — 98155-88342 — has been issued for medical support during the event.
