KACHCHH, July 20— A woman Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Gujarat Police was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner in Kachchh district, police said on Sunday. The accused, identified as Dinesh Jadav, later surrendered at Anjar police station — the very station where the victim was posted.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (East Kachchh) Mukesh Chaudhary, the couple had been in a relationship since 2021 after connecting on Instagram and had been living together.
“The incident of murder of a woman ASI posted at Anjar police station has come to light. The accused, Dinesh Jadav, came in contact with the officer through Instagram in 2021. They were living together, and last night, a fight broke out between them. After the altercation, Dinesh strangled her to death,” said DSP Chaudhary.
The exact cause of the fight is still under investigation, but police confirmed that Jadav turned himself in at the station early Sunday morning.
The victim’s identity has been withheld pending notification of family members. A case of murder has been registered against Jadav, and further legal proceedings are underway.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the state police force, with officers describing the death as both tragic and deeply disturbing.
