Chandigarh, Jan 2: The Punjab government on Tuesday approved the promotion of 12 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) as part of an administrative exercise aimed at strengthening senior leadership within the state police.
The officers promoted include Harpreet Singh Jaggi, along with Snehdeep Sharma, Sandeep Goel, Jasdev Singh Sidhu, Dhruv Dahiya, Sandeep Kumar Garg, Gulneet Singh Khurana, Akhil Chaudhary, Amneet Kondal, Gurpreet Singh, Rupinder Singh and Sarabjit Singh.
Officials said the promoted officers have served in diverse assignments across Punjab and other postings, and their elevation reflects their experience and service record.
The government said the move is intended to improve operational efficiency and reinforce command structures across police ranges and specialised units. The newly promoted DIGs are expected to take charge of key formations in the coming days.
Senior officials added that regular promotions are essential to maintain morale within the force and ensure effective leadership at higher levels of policing.
