Gandhinagar, October 17, 2025: In a sweeping political reshuffle, 25 BJP legislators were sworn in as ministers in Gujarat on Friday, with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel unveiling a new team that blends political experience with youthful leadership. The ceremony, held at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, was attended by senior party leaders and top officials amid elaborate security arrangements.
Surat MLA Harsh Sanghavi took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister, while Rivaba Jadeja, first-time MLA from Jamnagar North and wife of Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, joined the council of ministers as Minister of State. Former Gujarat Congress chief Arjun Modhwadia, who switched to the BJP earlier this year, was inducted as a Cabinet Minister, marking his political rehabilitation under the saffron banner.
The expansion followed the resignation of all ministers except Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel a day earlier — a move aimed at restructuring the state cabinet and refreshing the BJP’s leadership lineup. Party insiders said the reshuffle was designed to achieve a fine balance of caste, regional, and political representation while rewarding loyalty and performance.
The induction of young leaders like Sanghavi signals the BJP’s focus on grooming a new generation of leadership. A three-time MLA from Surat, Sanghavi has been instrumental in youth engagement and administrative reforms. Rivaba Jadeja’s entry, meanwhile, underscores the BJP’s emphasis on women’s participation and Saurashtra’s growing influence in state politics.
Modhwadia’s inclusion is seen as a strategic step to consolidate the BJP’s presence in coastal Gujarat and further weaken the Congress in its traditional bastions.
Political analysts said the move reflects the BJP’s pattern of mid-term leadership renewal, keeping the state machinery energised ahead of upcoming electoral cycles. The new cabinet, they said, mirrors the party’s attempt to project continuity with change — retaining stability under Bhupendra Patel while infusing fresh political energy.
The Chief Minister is expected to convene the first meeting of the reconstituted cabinet soon to finalise portfolio allocations and outline key governance priorities for the coming term.
