Chandigarh, Aug 1 —The Monsoon session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha will commence on August 22, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced after a Cabinet meeting held on Friday. The final duration of the session will be decided by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC).

During the briefing, Saini defended his government’s record, saying that over the past 11 years, both the Centre and the state have focused on welfare schemes for the poor. “The BJP government is committed to empowering the underprivileged, unlike the Congress, which prioritised the rich,” he said.

Addressing criticism from the Opposition over alleged law and order failures, Saini said police officers have been instructed to take immediate and firm action against criminal elements. “We are committed to ensuring peace and safety across the state,” he added.

He also accused the Congress of indulging in misinformation campaigns, while remaining silent on governance issues in Congress-ruled states like Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and Telangana. “Their manifestos are nothing more than poll gimmicks,” Saini said, contrasting it with the BJP’s track record of implementation.

On development, the CM claimed the current government is delivering at three times the earlier pace without regional bias.

He also revealed that an action plan is being finalised for the ‘Lado Lakshmi Yojana’, under which women will receive Rs 2,100 as part of the BJP’s election promise. A dedicated portal for the scheme will be launched soon, he said.

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Krishan Kumar Bedi recently said the draft policy for the scheme has been submitted to the CM’s office and is awaiting approval.
