Chandigarh, July 18: Haryana government has launched a drive to register all tuberculosis (TB) patients on the Nikshay portal, especially those seeking treatment from private healthcare providers.
The campaign, spearheaded by State TB Officer Dr Rajesh Raju, aims to plug critical gaps in TB case reporting and ensure that unregistered patients receive full access to government benefits.
“As part of the initiative, special information boards will be put up at chemist shops across the state,” said Dr Raju. “While patients at government hospitals are regularly registered, a significant number from the private sector remain outside the formal care system.”
Under the Nikshay registration, TB patients become eligible for free medicines, a monthly financial support of ₹1,000 under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme, and other essential health services during their treatment.
“This step is vital not only for patient care, but also for public health. The more patients we register and treat, the closer we come to eliminating TB from Haryana,” Dr Raju added.
The initiative aligns with the national goal of TB elimination by 2025, with Haryana taking proactive steps to identify and support all TB-affected individuals, regardless of where they seek treatment.
