Chandigarh, Nov 29: A 30-year-old Indian student from Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, was killed in a stabbing in Worcester, UK, prompting his family to seek urgent assistance from Indian authorities to bring home his remains.

The victim, Vijay Kumar Sheoran, had been pursuing studies at UWE Bristol. His elder brother, Ravi Kumar, informed the External Affairs Ministry that the case was under investigation by UK police but that the family had been given “no disclosure so far.” In his letter, he wrote, “We are shattered by this tragedy. We need the Ministry’s support for the repatriation process, including documentation and coordination with UK authorities.”

Ravi said the family suspects that “people from Haryana and Punjab based in the UK” may have been involved, though police have released no confirmation. He also appealed to Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini for assistance.

West Mercia Police said officers found a seriously injured man on Barbourne Road at about 4.15 am on November 25. “He was taken to hospital but sadly died later that day,” the police statement noted. Five men arrested on suspicion of murder are currently on bail, while a sixth was released without further action.
