Haryana Orders 24/7 Firefighting Readiness Amid Rising Fire Incidents

by TheReportingTimes

CHANDIGARH, April 21:— In response to recent major fire incidents in Haryana, including one in Hisar’s DC Colony and another involving a PNG pipeline in Gurugram, the state government has ordered all deputy commissioners to ensure that firefighting infrastructure remains operational 24/7.

On Sunday, Financial Commissioner (Revenue) Sumita Misra stressed the importance of maintaining constant preparedness. “Deputy commissioners are directed to ensure 24×7 operational readiness of fire tenders and firefighting personnel. Effective coordination between district administrations, fire services, police, agriculture departments, and disaster management authorities is crucial for prompt responses,” Misra stated.

She further mentioned that regular monitoring at the village and block levels must be conducted to detect and report fire incidents promptly. With rising temperatures and the threat posed by dry crop residue, authorities are ramping up safety efforts. Weekly safety reviews and Friday status reports will be mandatory until the end of the season. Rural awareness campaigns will also target farmers to educate them on fire prevention during harvesting.

The statewide alert will remain active until the onset of the monsoon.
