Kurukshetra, March 31 – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday announced that the state government plans to establish Asia’s largest mustard oil mill in Narnaul, aiming to benefit farmers in Rewari and surrounding areas. He also revealed plans for a large sunflower oil mill in Kurukshetra.

Speaking at Samani village in Kurukshetra during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat broadcast, Saini said the project would be implemented soon and assured that farmers’ crops would be purchased at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). “Lakhs of farmers will benefit from this initiative. Haryana is the first state in the country where all crops are being purchased at MSP,” he said.

The chief minister also outlined ongoing water conservation efforts under the Catch the Rain scheme. He mentioned that 2,000 ponds have already been built across the state, with plans to construct 2,200 more. “Farmers are being encouraged to collect rainwater in fields and gram panchayat land to help the state overcome water scarcity,” he added.

Saini highlighted the rising crop yields in South Haryana and urged farmers in other parts of the state to adopt drip irrigation systems and create ponds under the Atal Bhujal Yojana. “By conserving water, we can boost agricultural productivity and secure the future of farming in Haryana,” he said.

The announcement comes as part of the government’s broader push to support farmers through infrastructure development and water conservation initiatives.
