New Delhi, 6 Aug — Haryana has contributed a total of 332.89 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of wheat to the Central foodgrain stock over the last five Rabi Marketing Seasons, Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

In response to a question by Congress MP Kumari Selja, Bambhaniya presented year-wise wheat procurement figures from Haryana, showing significant fluctuation in contributions:

  • 2021–22: 84.93 LMT
  • 2022–23: 41.86 LMT
  • 2023–24: 63.17 LMT
  • 2024–25: 71.50 LMT
  • 2025–26 (so far): 71.43 LMT

On the issue of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer supply for the ongoing Kharif 2025 season, the minister clarified that the Union Government’s Department of Fertilizers allocates DAP based on demand projections made by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (DA&FW). The actual distribution within the state is managed by the Haryana Government.

“For the Kharif 2025 season, the DAP requirement for Haryana was assessed at 2.83 LMT, and the Centre ensured adequate availability from April 1 to July 30,” Bambhaniya told the House.

According to official figures, DAP availability in Haryana during this period was 1.59 LMT, of which 1.26 LMT was sold through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) platform. The closing stock stood at 0.33 LMT as of July 30, matching the pro-rata requirement of 1.57 LMT for the same period.

The minister’s response comes amid growing focus on food security and input availability for farmers in key agrarian states like Haryana.
