Chandigarh, Sept 16: Haryana Environment, Forest and Wildlife Minister Rao Narbir Singh on Tuesday directed officials to begin preparations for Seva Pakhwada, to be held across the state from September 17 to October 2. As part of the drive, “Namo forests” will be established at 75 locations.
Chairing a review meeting with department officials, Singh said the plantation campaign will fall under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative, with a target of planting four lakh saplings. The details will be uploaded on the Meri Life portal of the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
The main event will be held on September 19 at Bir in Hisar. Singh said that on September 25, to mark Deen Dayal Upadhyay Jayanti, all district forest officers should organize special cleanliness drives at their respective offices.
Officials informed the minister that four mobile propaganda vehicles will travel across Haryana during the fortnight, using digital walls to promote the campaign. Singh further instructed that a video on plastic waste and its impact should also be uploaded as part of the awareness drive.
Outlining the government’s larger environmental goals, Singh said the focus is on making the NCR region greener and realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a forest safari in the Aravalli region. He asked officials to invite entries from experts to contribute to the proposed safari project.
