Kanpur, Feb 9: A speeding Lamborghini caused widespread panic on Sunday after ramming into pedestrians and stationary vehicles near Rev-3 Mall. The vehicle is reportedly tied to Shivam Mishra, son of Banshidhar Exports owner K K Mishra, whose firm is a major supplier to the regional tobacco industry.
The crash resulted in six hospitalizations, with victims suffering from fractures and severe bruising. One witness recalled the car hitting an autorickshaw before launching a motorcycle rider into the air. Police reached the spot to rescue the driver from an agitated crowd and transport the injured to a private facility.
“An FIR has been registered in the matter against an unidentified person,” DCP Atul Kumar Srivastava said. He added that the authorities are conducting a detailed inquiry into the incident.
Victims and local residents gathered at the police station to voice concerns over the investigation’s progress. Some protesters claimed that associates of the accused behaved aggressively at the crash site and that there has been pressure to reach a compromise due to the family’s social standing.
“The accident occurred when the luxury car went out of control and ploughed into people standing along the roadside,” the DCP directly said regarding the 3:15 pm incident.
When questioned about potential driver impairment, the officer mentioned that medical reports would be necessary to confirm if alcohol played a role. Currently, the seized Lamborghini remains at the police station while forensic teams examine the site of the collision to reconstruct the event.
