SHIMLA, Aug. 18 — The Himachal Pradesh government has sanctioned an additional ₹3.50 crore for the construction of a key bridge over the Giri River in Sirmour district’s Pachaad assembly constituency, officials said on Sunday.

The bridge, once completed, will connect Chabyoga in Pachaad with Salamu in Rajgarh, providing seamless road access to thousands of residents. A Public Works Department spokesperson said the project will particularly benefit gram panchayats including Karganoo, Rajgarh, Tikker, Pabiyana, Drabli, Wasni and Daron Devriaya.

“The state government remains steadfast in its commitment to equitable development. Roads and bridges are the backbone of progress, and we are prioritising investment in rural connectivity to ensure that no area remains isolated from the mainstream of development,” the spokesperson said.

Officials said the bridge will ease travel, improve access to markets and services, and strengthen rural infrastructure in the hilly constituency.
