Shimla, June 5— The government has enforced a complete ban on the transfer of teaching staff in government schools and colleges effective June 5, a step aimed at ensuring stability and continuity in the academic calendar.
The restriction will remain in place until the end of the current academic year.
Officials said the decision stems from persistent complaints that mid-session transfers left several schools without teachers for extended periods. Often, newly posted staff failed to join on time, citing various reasons, thereby disrupting classroom learning.
“To avoid academic disruption and ensure that teachers are available throughout the session, transfers will now be permitted only once a year,” an official spokesperson said.
The government will implement a single-window transfer system during a designated period each academic year, ensuring students’ education is not compromised due to staffing gaps.
